The heavens parted this weekend and our family was reunited (and it felt so good!) I was gone all last week at a conference, and Claire spent the week in VA with her daddy and sister.
I never know what I am going to find when I see her next. At this point, anything is possible and all improvements are miracles. During one of her meals on Saturday, I stopped her to make sure she realized that EVERYTHING she was eating was new. Every single thing she had for her meal was not on her menu before she began the program 3 weeks ago. I want her to realize she is making progress to hopefully fuel her and motivate her to drive on through the hard moments. I know she wants to have a healthier diet. One with variety and nutrition. She told me this morning she dreamt that she liked chocolate and took a big bite out of a Hershey bar, and was very disappointed to find it only a dream when she woke.
She has started eating every flavor of applesauce I can find. She didn't eat applesauce before at all. She eats Peanut butter on Ritz crackers, 2 new pop tart flavors, even pureed carrots and sweet potatoes!!! She said carrots weren't very good, kinda "bland". I told her about a recipe for honey glazed carrots and her eyes lit up. My heart just leaped in my chest.
Here is to another successful week in VA!!!
